Community Development is responsible for planning and managing Waseca’s physical growth and expansion.   The department is responsible for several functions including economic development, community planning and historic preservation.  The department defines future city development through long-range planning and zoning requirements with an emphasis on orderly growth to make the community more sustainable in terms of land use, development, downtown redevelopment and neighborhood preservation. The Community Development Department also reviews residential, commercial and housing development proposals for compliance with the Waseca Zoning Ordinance.
