Water Utility/Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator

With limited direct supervision, this position operates and maintains equipment, infrastructures, and processes under guidance and supervision (direct and indirect) as appropriate in order to meet or exceed all MPCA (Minnesota Pollution Control Agency) permit requirements for the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) and MDH (Minnesota Department of Health) permit requirements for the Water Utility (WU).

The pay range for this position is $24.47-$30.59 per hour. The hiring range for this position is $24.47-$26.51 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications:

General

  • Ability to perform each essential function of the job description.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED certificate required

Experience

  • One (1) year of work experience including public works, utilities, or building trades.

Trainings, Certificates, and Licenses

  • Possess a Minnesota Class D Driver’s License

Public Works Seasonal Maintenance Worker I – Parks Department

Under general supervision, this position performs general labor services in the care and maintenance of the City of Waseca’s buildings and grounds. In addition, the Maintenance Worker will be responsible for adhering to maintenance and safety standards that provide a comfortable environment for the public.

This position will work 40 hours per week, spring through fall. Start and end dates for this temporary position are somewhat flexible, depending on the scheduling needs of both the City of Waseca and the job candidate.

The pay for this position is $12 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications:

General

  • Ability to perform each essential function of the job description.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma, GED certificate, or enrolled in high school.
  • Minnesota Class D driver’s license.

Public Works Seasonal Maintenance Worker I - Parks Job Description

Payoll Clerk: Part-Time

Under general supervision, this skilled administrative position processes payroll. Responsibilities include not only issuing paychecks, but also many tasks related to payroll, including updating the financial software, reconciling data, ensuring compliance, paying taxes and benefits partner invoices, and preparing and filing tax reports.

This position will work on a two-week rotation, working approximately 16 hours during week 1, and 24 hours during week 2. Some schedule flexibility is possible.

The pay range for this position is $24.47-$30.59 per hour. The starting pay for the candidate selected for this position is $24.47-$26.51 per hour, depending on qualifications.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED certificate PLUS two years of payroll processing experience.
  • We will also consider candidates with an Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field who have no payroll processing experience.

Police Reserve Volunteers

Are you interested in helping protect and serve Waseca’s citizens and visitors in a part-time, volunteer capacity? The Waseca Police Reserves currently has openings for qualified persons to join our team.

Chartered in 1974, the Waseca Police Reserves are a volunteer unit of the Waseca Police Department and provide assistance to the WPD through patrol services, educational events, traffic control and security at Waseca’s parades and festivals, and much more. The unit meets once per month and each Reserve Officer is scheduled a weekend evening patrol shift 1-2 times per month. Reserve Officers do not have the same authority as a licensed MN Peace Officer and are limited in their enforcement powers. Uniforms and training are provided on an ongoing basis.

To be considered for employment, potential applicants must:

  • File a written application on the form prescribed and furnished by the City of Waseca.
  • Be a citizen of the United States.
  • Reside within the boundaries of the Waseca Public Schools District.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a valid Minnesota Driver's License and have a good driving record.
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • Submit to fingerprinting, background check, police contacts check, oral interviews and/or any other type of examination and/or testing as may be prescribed by the Chief of Police.
  • Be in good general health.
