Engineering
The City of Waseca Engineering Department primarily manages the design and completion of public infrastructure (or capital improvement) projects. These projects include street reconstructions and overlays, public utility improvements, sidewalk/shared use path extensions and repairs, and environmental/infrastructure studies and analysis. Projects are normally selected and scheduled based on the following criteria: level of use/importance (Street System Map), overall condition (Street PCI Data), available funding, safety concerns, community priorities, and timing of other planned improvements.
A map of the City's current 10-year project schedule, or Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), can be viewed by clicking on the link below. Every year, the City's CIP is reviewed and updated by staff and City Council as part of the City's annual budgeting process.
Additional Engineering Department responsibilities include:
- Administering the City's MS4 Stormwater Permit
- Managing Geographic Information System (GIS) Maps & Data
- Operating the PEG Channel
- Overseeing Planning and Zoning Reviews
- Right-of-Way Permit Approvals & Inspections
