Heritage Preservation Commission

Composed of five (5) members: three (3) at-large, one (1) nominated by Waseca County Historical Society, and one (1) nominated by the Planning Commission.  The Commission will engage in a comprehensive program of historic preservation, promote the historical resources of the City, and designate heritage preservation sites.  Members serve a 3-year term and regularly meet the 1st Monday of the month at 5:00pm.

In January 2020, after years in the making, the City of Waseca was awarded with a Downtown Commercial Historic District. This process went through the State and National Park Service for approval and residents of Waseca can be proud of their downtown area. There are about 65 contributing buildings in the Historic District. The HPC is working on some QR codes that you can scan on each contributing building that will give a history of each. This project is underway as of February 2021, and we are in hopes to have it completed soon. If you would like to talk about the Historic District please contact JuliaH@ci.waseca.mn.us who can get you in touch with one of our HPC members!
