Property and Business Owners

The City of Waseca and the Waseca Heritage Preservation Commission (HPC) recognize the importance of a vibrant and welcoming downtown. The Waseca Heritage Preservation Program was established to identify significant historic resources in the community and to encourage maintenance and preservation of these valuable community assets.

In an effort to preserve the downtown and prevent the influences of slum and blight, the City of Waseca has established commercial and residential rehabilitation loan programs to encourage and assist property owners to maintain and restore their downtown properties. The City and HPC have also conducted Historic Property Surveys of the historic areas of the community and have compiles data sheets on each property surveyed.

Property and business owners interested in making improvements, both interior and exterior, to their downtown properties may qualify for one or more of the rehabilitation loan programs. To qualify for funding, all exterior façade alterations must be reviewed and approved by the Waseca Heritage Preservation Commission through the Site Alteration Permit process. Further, the Waseca HPC is available to review and make recommendations on any historic property renovations and improvements.
