Tuesday April 26- Controlled Burn at Loon Lake Park

This spring, the Park Maintenance and Waseca Fire Department will be working together to restore native prairies, wetlands and park landscapes within Waseca through prescribed burning.

Park Maintenance developed a three- to five-year burn rotation plan that will encompass specific park areas in Waseca. The City of Waseca properties currently planted with prairie grasses include the two shoreline restoration properties on Loon Lake – Loon Lake Park and Loon Lake boat landing area, and Northeast Park storm water retention pond.

Burns are scheduled to be conducted April 26 through mid-May. However, because of the variables in the weather, the exact day and time may not be known until the day before or the same day. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Loon Lake Park is scheduled for Tuesday, April 26 at 5pm with the forecasted wind in our favor. Fire Dept has a full crew that will be completing the controlled burn.
