Waseca Lakes

Clear Lake:

This 652-acre lake is located on the east side of Waseca along Highway 14. The very popular fishing lake provides a variety of species, including bluegills, crappies, bass, northern pike, and walleye. Bass are catch and release only.

Two DNR-assisted boat ramps are located at:

  • Maplewood Park: East side of lake off Clear Lake Drive and across from Kieslers Campground. Boat ramp parking lot has 24 vehicle/trailer parking spaces, 21 vehicle/trailer grass overflow parking spaces, and 11 single-vehicle parking spaces. The concrete plank, double-wide access boat ramp is equipped with a floating dock. An 84-foot handicapped accessible fishing pier is within walking distance just north of the boat ramp.
  • Sportsman Park: North side of lake along Clear Lake Drive and adjacent Lakeside Golf Course. The concrete plank boat ramp provides access to three vehicles loading/unloading. Ramp is equipped with a floating dock and roll-in dock.

Loon Lake:

This 80-acre lake is located on the west side of Waseca along Highway 14. This shallow lake provides a variety of fish including bluegills, crappies, bass, northern pike, and bullhead.

One DNR-assisted boat ramp is located on 10th Street NW, just off Highway 14. The concrete plank, single access boat ramp is equipped with a roll-in dock. A fishing pier is located within walking distance of the parking lot.

Loon Lake is designated an "electric boat motors only" lake by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

Loon Lake is also the site of shoreline restoration projects located at Loon Lake Park, Loon Lake boat ramp, Maple Terrace Senior Living Complex, Lakeshore Inn Nursing Home, and Latham Place Assisted Living Community. These DNR grant assisted projects provide native wildflower plantings, improve water quality and benefit the fishery, discourage geese from congregating on turf, make shorelines more attractive to people and wildlife by incorporating diverse and colorful plantings. Shoreline plantings also demonstrate an alternative stabilization procedure along lakeshores.
