On behalf of the men and women of the Waseca Police Department, I am pleased to welcome you to our website. Hopefully, our site will assist you in getting to know us better by acquainting you with some of our operation, community programming, officers, assignments, support staff, and our work product. We hope you find all of the information on this website to be useful and helpful in getting to know us better.

Waseca is a southern Minnesota community located between Mankato and Owatonna with a population of 9,700 residents. The Waseca Police Department strives to be a professional and responsive organization to our citizens. We believe that Waseca is a wonderful community and we try our very best to serve and protect everyone in our jurisdiction. We believe we have a very successful team of individuals and the key to our success is in the hiring of high quality officers and support staff and providing them with excellent training, equipment, and supervision.

The Chief of Police oversees sworn full-time and part-time licensed police officers, administrative staff, reserve officers, crossing guards, and the new employees of Connections, our new visitation and exchange center located in our new Public Safety Building in Waseca.

Additionally, as the Chief Law Enforcement Officer for the City of Waseca, I am privileged and committed to providing quality police services in collaboration with our community. We strive for community involvement through partnerships, programs, and projects. We continue to listen to the needs of this community and respond in the most efficient and effective manner possible with our available resources. We are always open to new and innovative ideas to improve police services. By working together, we continue to preserve the quality of life that our community deserves.

Unfortunately, due to cost and security considerations, the Waseca Police Department is not able to provide patches, badges, or any other police memorabilia to the public. Thank you for your understanding.

Lastly, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the citizens of Waseca for their continued support with our department. I started my career in law enforcement in July of 1984 with the Waseca Police Department. I love this community. Waseca has brought much joy to me and my family and I can’t imagine working or living anywhere else. We have some of the greatest residents right here in Waseca! Thank you for this opportunity to serve as your Chief of Police. I am so very lucky!

Sincerely,
Penny Vought, Chief of Police
