What is the Adopt a Park program about:
- The program provides volunteers an opportunity to assist the City Parks Department in keeping our public spaces clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing.
- Participants are responsible for cleaning their adopted site of trash, downed tree limbs, and other debris.
- Participant commitment to clean adopted parks, trails, or open spaces a minimum of once per month from April to October.
- Participants may also undertake other beautification efforts in their adopted areas upon approval by the Parks Superintendent.
- Park, trail, open space sites are assigned on a first come, first serve, basis.
The City's role in Adopt a Park:
- Provides trash bags for cleanup
- Coordinates pickup of limbs, trash, and other debris
- Provides materials required for approved improvements
Why be involved:
Litter is unsightly and very expensive to remove. It destroys the natural aesthetics of our parks, trails, lakes, and open space areas. A litter free community is aesthetically pleasing to visitors and prospective new citizens and businesses by portraying a concerned and caring community image. Adopting a park, trail, or open space area provides volunteers with a sense of ownership and community pride.
How to get involved:
Please contact Brad Dushaw, the City of Waseca Parks Superintendent, at 507-835-9727 to discuss your interest in Adopt a Park or obtain an AAP agreement form at City Hall located at 508 South State Street in Waseca.
