Planning & Zoning Division
The Planning and Zoning Division is responsible for the interpretation, management, and enforcement (Code Compliance) of the City's Zoning Code and planning policies. Other general activities performed by this division include zoning ordinance and Comprehensive Plan updates and amendments, researching specific planning and zoning issues, organizing and administering Planning & Zoning Commission meetings, and advising the general public on specific planning, zoning, and land use questions.
These regulations, policies, and ordinances have been established by the City Council to guide and direct development and construction projects. After zoning code compliance has been met, new construction also requires a Building Permit to ensure that projects follow current building codes and meet safety standards. Additional building permit information can be found at the Building Permit & Inspections Department.
