2021 Water Main Improvements

Project Description: This project involved the replacement of approximately 300 feet of 6" water main along the south edge of 14th Avenue NW from the State Street Frontage Road to the West End.  The new water main was placed within an existing 10-foot-wide utility easement that runs along the south edge of 14th Avenue NW.  This project also included two (2) water main spot repair locations on 8th Street SE near 14th Avenue SE and just south of the RR tracks.  The overall scope of work consisted of water main replacement, new service connections, and the restoration of impacted land and pavement.

Project Status: This project was bid on August 12th with a low bid of $118,678.76 received by GM Contracting Inc and was awarded at the August 17th City Council meeting.  The work on 8th Street SE began August 26th and was completed on August 30th.  The work along 14th Avenue NW began August 31st and was substantially completed on September 18th.

Project Costs & Funding:  Construction costs totaled $122,493.23.  City staff completed the design and inspection on this project.  The City's Water Utility will be the funding source and these improvements will not be assessed to adjacent property owners.
