2023 Sidewalk Improvements

Project Description: This annual project involves primarily the replacement of defective and deteriorated sidewalk and the upgrading of sidewalk ramps to current ADA standards.  Deteriorated curb and gutter may also be replaced as part of this project.  The locations vary and are generally selected by City staff based resident feedback, overall condition, and level of use.  The ADA sidewalk ramp upgrades typically coincide with the locations of upcoming Street Enhancements.

Project Status: On March 30th one (1) bid was received from Nielsen Blacktopping & Concrete Inc. in the amount of $52,928.75.  The project was awarded at the April 4th City Council meeting and construction began on June 7th.  In late April, a quote for ADA ramp upgrades at the intersection of 4th St NW and 2nd Ave NW was also received from Nielsen for $21,950.  As of June 30th, the ADA ramp upgrades along 6th Street SW were completed.  The week of August 29th, Nielsen returned and completed the contracted and quoted work.

Project Costs & Funding: The contracted work totaled $53,270.25 and the quoted work totaled $21,129.00, resulting in a total project cost of $74,399.25.  This project was 100% funded by Streets Capital.  City staff completed project design and also performed construction inspection.
