2024 Crack Seal & Seal Coat Program

Project Description: This annual program consists of the crack sealing and seal coating of various City streets and parking lots and usually includes the crack and fog sealing of various asphalt trails.  In order to extend its useful life and delay the need for more costly resurfacing, asphalt street and parking lot pavement is typically crack sealed and seal coated 1-2 years after construction.  The crack/fog sealing of trails are completed as needed and based on visual inspection.  Other streets and parking lots may also be selected for these treatments based on pavement condition and as budgeted funding allows.

A map showing the planned 2024 Crack Seal & Seal Coat locations will be posted soon.

Project Status: Staff has completed the plans and specifications and the project has been posted online for bid (QuestCDN).  The bid opening date is April 23rd and project award is expected at the May 7th City Council meeting.  If awarded, work is to begin on, or after, July 29th with substantial completion by August 30th and final completion (clean-up and sweeping) by September 6th.

Project Costs & Funding: Total cost is estimated at $122,000.  For this project, $115,000 has been budgeted in Streets Capital with another $8,000 available in Sanitary Sewer Utility funds (for crack sealing the Wastewater Treatment Plant parking lot).  City staff completed project design and will perform project inspection.
