Project Description: Asphalt reconstruction of 3,350 feet of 26th Avenue NE (375th) from State Hwy 13 to the East City Limits (approximately 250 feet east of 8th St NE).  Scope of work included removal of the existing pavement, grading, rock subbase, new bituminous pavement, and culvert improvements. 

Project Status: On April 29th, seven (7) bids were opened with a low bid received of $400,923.95.  The low bidder (James Bros. Construction) was awarded the project on May 4th.  The phases involving pavement and subgrade removals, roadbed grading, and the placement of new rock subbase were completed in early July and paving of the final surface layer of asphalt was completed on July 16th.  As of July 27, this project was substantially complete with minor restoration and seeding having been completed by mid-August.

Project Costs & Funding: Construction costs for this project totaled $392,300.39, which is $8,623.56 below the bid amount and $106,109.61 below the engineer's estimate of $498,410.00.  City staff completed the design and also performed the project inspection.  This project was 100% funded by the City and the improvements were not assessed to adjacent properties.
