North State Street Water Main Improvements

(11th Avenue to 19th Avenue)

Project Description: This project involved the replacement and upsizing of water main along North State Street (State Hwy 13) from 11th Avenue to 19th Avenue.  The scope of work included installation (primarily through directional drilling) of 16" water main along the east side of North State Street, new hydrants, and water service connections.  The existing water main along North State Street was undersized and had been experiencing numerous breaks leading up to this project.  This project provided increased flow and water pressure, and has eliminated the need for costly water main break repairs in that area.

Project Status: On March 10th, two (2) bids were received with the low bid being from Wencl Construction Inc. in the amount of $1,162,791.95.  The project was awarded to Wencl on March 15th and construction began the week of May 16th.  Work was substantially completed by July 18th.

Estimated Costs & Funding:  Total construction cost was $1,142,918.  Stantec design and inspection services was in the amount of $164,761.72 and investigative soil borings were completed by American Engineering Testing Inc. for $6,845.  Therefore, total project cost was $1,314,524.72.  All project costs were funded through the Water Utility.
